Today Jesus Wants to Interrupt the Sinner
July 25, 2019
We often have preconceived notions about Who or What a sinner is. We often define “sinful” people to be those irredeemable outcasts we see on the news. The word “sin” literally means “to miss the mark.” What is that mark? It is God’s standard or perfect holiness. That is the mark which we are measured by, and under that definition we are all “sinful” people. We are all sinners!
Last week, we said that Jesus wants to interrupt our lives with the priorities of the Kingdom. On Sunday, we said that Jesus wants to interrupt lives in their disease or at their point of need. Today we will again be in Luke chapter 5. Go ahead and turn there, Luke 5. In verse 17-26 of Luke chapter 5, we will see Jesus’ authority over sin when He interrupts the life of a sinner.
