Be Holy as I am Holy 01 – A God Who is Holy

1 Peter 1:13-16 (NIV)

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Leviticus 11:44

44 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy…

Leviticus 19:2

2 Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”

1 Samuel 2:2 (NIV)

2 There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”

Isaiah 6:3 (NIV)

3 Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.”

Ephesians 1:4

4 Long ago, even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.

Hebrew 12:14-17 (NIV)

14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. 16 See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. 17 Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.

Next week we will talk about the elements of Preparation, Separation and Consecration, they are necessary if we are going to live the way that God wants us to.
