What Frequency Are You Tuning In?

Have you ever wondered why you so often listen to the voice of temptation, instead of the voice of God’s Spirit? Or am I the only whoever struggles with that? We do not need to be afraid to admit that struggle. Paul the great apostle of faith willingly admitted the same struggle, in Romans 7. He did the things he didn’t want to do and knew he shouldn’t do and the very things which he knew he should do and wanted to do, he didn’t do. But Paul didn’t allow himself to accept the struggle as his permanent condition; he moved on to Romans 8 and found that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. We should as well. How did he do it? What is it that will bring us from losing the battle with temptation? The victory begins with: Dealing with Self!

Think of it like this: Your soul is like a radio and your will is the tuner. Whatever frequency that you choose to dial in and amplify will be played in your soul. The impressions or influences which you choose to dial in to with your will, will be the influences that are impressed upon your soul. The tug or impressions and influences of the world must be balanced against the guidance of God in the spiritual world. We are far too use to living externally, by that I mean carnally. Our appetites are developed in relation to the impressions and influences we allow. On our own we are far too in tune with the secular, carnal world and so it often dominates us. We must learn to purposefully tune in to the frequencies of faith and listen for and obey the voice of God.

Do you know what God wants you as His child to do? He wants you to tune out your connection to the sense world. This sounds easy, but it is the world which you are used to tuning in and obeying. Its influence is all around you: school, work, friends, family, Facebook, Twitter, TV, music, society… you get the idea. You must work to develop your spiritual man in direct connection and obedience to the principles of God’s Kingdom. It must come to the point where you can follow a different set of directions than the ones which the world constantly transmits and presses upon you.
I mentioned Romans 8:1 but I didn’t give you the whole story. Often, we read verses that way. So, before I leave you today, I want to you to read the whole verse: “1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

If you want to live a God pleasing life then you must be in tune with Christ and outside of the frequencies of the world, the flesh and the Devil. What broadcast are you tuning in?
